Variety is the Spice of Life
Founded in 1990 for the purpose of raising registered quarter horses of the highest quality, Clay Ranch has seen a lot of growth over the years. We have thoroughly enjoyed raising and training horses, and we are looking forward to many more years of doing just that!
We have also been excited lately with the opportunities we have created through diversifying our ranch, and are eager to see what we can accomplish through these new ventures.

Our Horses
|
Here at Clay Ranch, our main focus is raising versatile and sound-minded registered quarter horses. We are incredibly proud of the horses we have produced over the years and continually strive to make our breeding program even better.
We work our horses on the ranch as well as in a variety of equine events including ranch horse competitions, cow-horse shows, rodeos, etc. We are very proud to say that we successfully use our own home-raised Clay Ranch horses at all of these events. Our Goats
|
Our Clay Ranch goat herd is comprised primarily of meat breed goats (Boer, Spanish, Kiko) crosses but also includes an influence of dairy breeding (Nubian).
With these goats, our focus is to produce quality kids that are friendly and easy to work with. They will be raised on pasture when available with supplemental hay and oats throughout the winter. Keep up with us on social! Instagram: ClayRanch.Goats |
Our Sheep
|
We were thrilled to announce the addition of a small flock of sheep to Clay Ranch in 2022. These are not the average wooly, white sheep that typically come to mind, but rather, a select group of hair sheep.
We are excited to get lambs on the ground this spring and hope you will follow along with us in our shepherding journey! Keep up with us on social! Instagram: ClayRanch.Goats |
Our Alpacas
|
The Clay Ranch is breaking into the world of fiber! 2023 brought a group of beautifully fluffed female alpacas to the ranch and we are extremely excited to show them off.
Our future plans and goals include a variety of different alpaca fiber goods, but for now we are focused on spending time with these girls, learning about each ones personality and quirks. Keep up with us on social! Instagram: ClayRanch.Goats |
Our Cattle
|
The cattle on Clay Ranch always come with some personality!
Our herd is small, but mighty and ever-evolving. We have steers and calves to work our horses with and to practice roping. We also have a couple of cow/calf pairs, and even some miniature cattle. While a critical part of our horse training program, cattle also provide an important component in our grazing rotation... Plus, what ranch would be complete without some cows around? Our Pigs
|
Introducing Clay Ranch's own Three Little Pigs! 2023 marks the first year that there have ever been pigs on the ranch... and we're loving it! It has always been important to our family to know where our food is coming from (often sourcing from extended family members).
This year, however, we've taken matters into our own hands. These pigs will be in different areas of our barn yard and pasture, putting their snouts to work rooting up the compost pile, wallowing in mud, and doing all things that pigs love to do! These pigs will be available in the fall so if you're interested in some pork, please reach out! Keep up with us on social! Instagram: ClayRanch.Goats |
Our Dogs
|
Everyone knows that a dog is man's best friend, and that saying definitely holds true on Clay Ranch!
We are very proud of and thankful for each one of our canine friends. Our canine family consists of four working dogs (three border collies and an Australian shepherd) as well as one mini aussie for comedic relief! Keep up with us on social! Our Birds
|
The laying hens that we have added to our chore list have become an essential part of life on the ranch—both in the barn and in the kitchen!
These lovely ladies have been helping with our egg requirements the past couple of years. We're looking forward to getting them out around the yard this summer to lend a hand (or wing?) with keeping the bug population down. |
Our Fertilizer
|
Everything at Clay Ranch has a purpose and a job... including the manure! For years, Colleen has used our naturally composted manure and organic matter to aid and improve the soil health in her lawn and gardens. The difference it has made? Immeasurable.
This spring we will be selling our fertilizer (pre-bagged, bring-your-own-pail, or by the tractor bucket) from right here on the ranch. Follow the link below to find more details! |
Our Programs
In addition to the livestock that we produce at Clay Ranch, we also take great pride in creating special agricultural experiences to share with the public.
For years, Quinn has offered youth horseback riding lessons during the summer months. Ranch Camp is her exciting endeavour for the spring of 2023, a new after-school program! |
