2023 Lambs
Clay Ranch is now the home to some pretty special sheep! We are excited to say we now have a very small flock of Mouflon sheep. Mouflon is a breed of horned hair sheep that is widely believed to be the ancestor of all modern domesticated sheep breeds. Being a hair sheep breed means that no shearing is required, they naturally shed their warm winter coat in the spring just like other mammals. This breed is naturally more wild than your standard white wooly ewes that people typically think of when the word "sheep" comes to mind.
Our focus with these sheep is to produce quality lambs with good conformation that bring a little something different than we are used to seeing here in Manitoba. We are very excited to have three ewes for our 2023 lambing season and hope to add a few more in the future. We expect to lamb in April - meaning your lamb will be ready for pick up around July. We will be posting updated details and pictures of each baby as the season goes on. Check back here or on our Instagram page (ClayRanch.Goats) to keep up to speed.
If you are interested in purchasing any of these babies, please contact us for additional information. A non-refundable deposit of $75 will hold your lamb for you until they are weaned and ready for pick up. If your lamb is injured while still here at Clay Ranch, your deposit may be transferred to another available lamb.
** Lambing dates will vary slightly from year to year and from ewe to ewe - the weaning and pick up dates will also be adjusted as a reflection. **
